In Sunday’s sermon we heard from Hebrews 2:1-4, a passage in which the author of Hebrews begins his many exhortations to endure in our salvation all the way to the end of our lives.
Specifically in this passage he tells us to “pay much closer attention” to the gospel of our salvation in Jesus so that we do not drift away from it. In the context of Hebrews, drifting away is akin to apostasy, which means abandoning your faith in Jesus. In other words, this is a very serious matter that has eternal consequences.
- In what ways are you personally prone to drifting away from the gospel? Be specific.
- What actionable steps can you take in your life to “pay much closer attention to what we have heard,” so as to prevent your drifting away?
- How can your fellow believers (i.e. your fellow small group members, and the other members of Sojourn) help you in this all-important endeavor to keep enduring in your faith?
- How can you help your fellow believers to keep enduring?
